Paula's ready to move on

"I'm a hard working artist," Paula Abdul told TV Guide in her first interview since she announced via Twitter that she was leaving 'American Idol.' "I've lasted in this business for 23 years. And you can't do that unless you are good at what you do."

Paula insists that, despite rumors to the contrary, disputes over money had little do do wither her decision. "I stand on principal where many people stand on money," she says. "I had to stand on my principal. I'm going to miss the experience of watching young talent evolve into a place where they get to take off and soar."

So... the fact that her new contract had her earning over $40 million less than fellow judge Simon Cowell didn't have anything to with that decision??

Either way, she seems like she's getting over it... When asked what she's planning next, Paula replied, "I definitely want to do a talk show because it would be different. It would be a lot of fun variety with a ton of unexpected stuff and tributes to everyday people getting their big chance."

If it's anything like that crazy mess of a reality show she had a couple years ago, I can hardly wait.

Renee Zellwegger involved in a car wreck

Renee Zellweger was involved in a car crash today, according to police officers on the scene.

Supposedly there were no injuries, and no one has been cited for the incident, though one officer has confirmed that the accident was caused when a green Ford Explorer made an illegal U-Turn . The worst of the damage was a shattered headlight on Renee's car.

The call to police came in a few hours ago, and after exchanging info with the driver of the Explorer, Renee asked the cops to call her a tow-truck and a cab.

"Reading Rainbow" closes the book

After 26 long years, popular children’s television program “Reading Rainbow” is coming to an end, reports NPR.

The show has won dozens of Emmys and is the third longest running children’s program in the history of PBS (behind only “Sesame Street” and “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood”).

Supposedly the cancellation comes because no one is willing to fork over the several hundred thousand dollars it would cost to renew the broadcast rights to the show.

John Grant, the man in charge of content at WNED Buffalo (where “Reading Rainbow” is broadcast), blames the shift in focus of reading education that began under the Bush administration.

Grant says that these days the Department of Education is only interested in funding programs that teach kids how to read (as in grammar, spelling, phonics, etc.). “’Reading Rainbow’ taught kids why to read,” says Grant. “You know, the love of reading.”

The show and its host, LeVar Burton, have become icons, and to those of us who grew up watching and reading along, they will be greatly missed.

But you don't have to take my word for it.

Celebrities shocked by the death of DJ AM

Various celebrities have expressed shock and sadness over the passing of DJ AM from an apparent drug overdose last night.

AM was found in his New York apartment just after 5pm Saturday evening. His body was reportedly surrounded by drug paraphernalia.

AM (real name Adam Goldstein) had apparently been drug free for nearly a decade, but TMZ is reporting that the recent split with his girlfriend as well as post-traumatic stress may have caused the famous DJ to fall off the wagon.

Nearly exactly a year ago DJ AM and good friend Travis Barker were the two lone survivors of a plane crash in South Carolina.

Since news of DJ AM’s death broke, many celebrities have expressed grief.

Rihanna was photographed looking stunned when she was told the news last night as she left a performance of “The Lion King” on Broadway. Singer Mandy Moore (who dated AM briefly) said in a statement that she is "absolutely heartbroken."

Other celebrities turned to Twitter. “In complete shock,” tweeted John Mayer. “May you rest in peace, Adam. You touched many and will be missed like crazy” wrote Alyssa Milano. Lindsay Lohan simply asked “Why? Why? R.I.P. Adam.”

Ryan Seacrest, Ashton Kutcher, Dr. Drew, Travis Barker, and Heidi Montag are among the many other celebrities who also turned to twitter to express their condolences.

Meanwhile, the Palms Casino Resort, where AM was the resident DJ, paid tribute by lighting up only the “A” and “M” in their logo today.

Someone is 'Popular'!

Earlier this week ‘American Idol’ had Broadway star Neil Patrick Harris filling in as the fourth judge at the Dallas auditions.

So who’s the latest New-Paula to sit at the table?

Keeping with the Broadway theme, 'AI' has shipped in Emmy nominee and Tony Award winner Kristen Chenoweth!

The star of ‘Wicked’ and ‘Pushing Daisies’ will be filling in as judge this week in Orlando.

The new season of American Idol begins airing in January.

You can also catch Kristen this season on Fox’s sure-to-be-a-hit “Glee.”

Lindsay Lohan's neighbors get their way

It looks like Lindsay Lohan’s neighbors are finally getting their way.

E! News is reporting that Lindsay is scheduled to move out of her rented Hollywood Hills home and into a more secure, doorman protected high-rise in L.A.-- and she’s moving today. The movers are supposedly coming Friday afternoon to transport all of Lindsay’s stuff.

The move comes just days after Lindsay’s home was burglarized and thieves made off with clothing, jewelry, and a safe. Since the incident (the second time the house has been robbed), Lindsay's neighbors have become increasingly vocal about their displeasure of having a paparazzi magnet living on the block.

In related news, Samantha Ronson’s house now has a “For Lease” sign in the yard.

Coincidence?

Megan Fox as Catwoman?

The third installment of Christopher Nolan's ‘Batman’ series begins filming next year, and casting rumors have been spreading around Hollywood. Johnny Depp as the Riddler? Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin? Both of these possibilities have been tossed through the rumor mill.

However, the most buzz has been surrounding Megan Fox. The ‘Transformers’ star is rumored to be in talks to play Catwoman, the role made famous by such femme fatales as Eartha Kitt, Julie Newmar, and Michelle Pfeiffer (before being ruined by Halle Berry).
So, is there any truth to the whispers?

"Megan is a huge fan of the ‘Batman’ movies and of director Christoper Nolan ," Megan’s rep told E News, "but these discussions have not taken place."
So, no confirmation yet. In fact, supposedly Warner Bros. is looking to Rachel Weisz as a top contender for the role.

Hmm. Neither Megan nor Rachel is a Michelle Pfeiffer, and definitely neither comes close to being an Eartha Kitt.

Man claims to be MJ's son

And here we go...A 24 year old San Francisco man has filed paperwork to get s DNA test to prove he is the illegitimate son of the late Michael Jackson.
The man, named Prince Michael Jackson (seriously) also submitted his birth certificate-- which names "Michael Joseph Jackson" of Indiana as his father and Zerline LaVette Dixon as his mother. He claims he's been pressured by MJ's family to keep quiet all these years, but with the King of Pop's passing he feels he can now go public.
By the way... Yes, Prince Michael is the name of both of Michael Jackson's two known sons.
